Lineage
Sacred River is rooted in the traditions of archetypal psychology, mysticism, and deep inquiry. The work is not oriented toward ‘healing’ as an ego-project, nor does it offer prescriptive behavioural solutions. Instead, it is a practice of soul-making. This requires descending into the unknown and cultivating an intimacy with ‘what is’, rather than striving for what the collective culture dictates ‘should be’.
Central to our world-view is understanding that imagination is reality. By engaging the images, metaphors, and symptoms that arise from daily life—including illness, uncertainty, and profound crossroads—we root ourselves in remaining receptive to the mysterious reverberations of deeply engaged, meaningful living.
The objective is not to bypass authentic suffering or provide final answers, but to ‘build our muscle’ for staying with the questions that live us. So deepening into an increasingly intimate and alive dialogue with the unfolding mystery of life. We are not guided away from the world, but more deeply into it.
Fritz Loest
Fritz Loest founded Sacred River in 2018, evolving out of a teaching and counseling practice he established in 2005. The foundation of his work rests on a rigorous twelve-year non-traditional apprenticeship that began in 2003. This included a six-year intensive therapeutic training program and seven years of closely supervised practice. Crucially, this lineage dictates that Fritz’s own psychological and spiritual descent serve as primary vessel for his work. He approaches the work as a creative psychological craft rather than clinical therapy; the objective is not diagnosis, but the cultivation of soul.
In his lineage, lived experience holds as much weight as formal study. Fritz’s path to this practice naturally unfolded in a non-linear manner, involving work as a human rights paralegal, a barista, a sommelier, a publishing editor, a financial consultant, and an entrepreneur. The path he travelled unfolded wanderingly, through multiple countries, diverse vocations, marriage, divorce, and endlessly shifting inner landscapes. This accumulation of life—the disintegration and rebuilding of homes and identities—forms the authentic ground in which his work is rooted.
His formal academic credentials include B.Comm (Law) and LL.B. degrees, along with a diploma in Journalism and a certification in Traditional Astrology.
